Surgery for Advanced Melanoma

Not everyone with advanced melanoma is suitable for surgery. It depends where your melanoma has spread to, in which areas of your skin and/or your body you may have melanoma and your general health. Your medical team will tell you whether you are suitable for surgery and how complex it is likely to be.

Possible side effects

All surgery carries risks and depending on the location, size and number of melanomas, you may risk infection, bleeding and blood clots. You may be in pain afterwards but you will be given medication to help alleviate this.
