Living Well With and Beyond Advanced Melanoma – Group Coaching Course

Coaching is a supportive and practical approach that helps you focus on what is important to you and identify positive steps you can take to support your wellbeing and quality of life.

This virtual course is for people who have:

  • Stage 4 melanoma who have been on their current treatment for at least two years
  • Stage 3 melanoma treated with adjuvant therapy, who were diagnosed more than two years ago

This group coaching course offers a safe and supportive space to explore life after treatment and the lasting impact that melanoma may have on your wellbeing, send of self and day-to-day life.

The programme is facilitated by an experienced coach who is also a GP and has personal experience of living with stage 4 melanoma, bringing both professional expertise and first-hand understanding to the sessions.

Over the 5 week course, we will explore topics such as:

  • Adjusting to life after treatment
  • Changes in identity and confidence following a melanoma diagnosis
  • The impact of melanoma on relationships, work and daily routines
  • Managing uncertainty and looking ahead to the future
  • Identifying what matters most to you and how to move forward in a meaningful way

This virtual course takes place online on zoom over five weeks in a small, facilitated group. There is no pressure to share personal experiences unless you feel comfortable doing so. The focus is on reflection, learning from others, and developing practical strategies that support wellbeing.

To gain the greatest benefit from the programme, participants are asked to attend ALL five sessions. Each course runs over five weeks and is held either at lunchtime or in the evening. To accommodate different schedules, courses will likely alternate between lunchtime and evening programmes, with one five-week course running at lunchtime followed by the next five-week course running in the evening, dependent upon the coach’s availability.

As well as learning new skills and approaches, you will have the opportunity to connect with others who have had similar experiences. Many people find that sharing a space with others who understand life after melanoma can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide a sense of support and connection.

Before and after the course, participants will be asked to complete a short wellbeing questionnaire so that we can understand the impact of the programme. We will also ask you to complete a feedback survey at the end of the course. In addition, there will be some optional exercises that you may find helpful to complete before and during the programme.
