PATIENT GUIDE

Stage 0 melanoma (melanoma in situ) has not grown deeper than the top layer of the skin (the epidermis).
It is not considered a skin cancer and is sometimes called a ‘pre-cancer’. The melanoma has not spread to other areas of the body or grown into deeper layers of the skin.

Melanoma in situ can be cured by surgery, and some patients will require a wide local excision. There is no further follow-up required by your medical team.

You will quickly be able to get back to your normal lifestyle.
