Steve’s Incredible Marathon Challenges

During October 2024, Steve was diagnosed with Stage 3c melanoma, he went on to have a wide excision and sentinel node biopsy, fortunately the cancer had not spread further. He started a 12-month round of Immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) with the aim of reducing the risk of further occurrence and improving the odds of a successful outcome.

By the end of March, he had 3 rounds of immunotherapy, but Liver Blood test results showed that there was potential liver damage. The decision was therefore taken to terminate the immunotherapy treatment so as not to cause irreversible liver issues.

During this time, Steve decided that he needed a challenge to keep himself focused. He decided that he would take on 3 US Marathons- Boston, Chicago and New York in April, October and November this year!  What an outstanding achievement, we are blown away by Steve’s determination and drive to make a difference.

He raised over £2,000 for Melanoma Focus, a huge well done and thank you.
