Mark’s Melanoma 1000 Challenge

In 2021 Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, in a quest to prove to himself that the cancer (and its associated treatment) wasn’t a reason to avoid doing things he has recently completed our Melanoma 1000 challenge. This challenge requires participants to complete 1000 miles any way they like between October-May.

Mark said “I wanted to see if I could complete a challenge which meant a reasonable commitment each day…At the same time, if I could get a bit fitter and raise a few pounds for a charity that focuses on my particular cancer and has helped me with technical information, etc.”

“Faced with a late-stage diagnosis, I was keen to get as much information as possible as to what I was up against.  Melanoma Focus is one of the organisations which has provided that information, and this has helped me enormously.”
