Luke Thomas 1985-2025

We are extremely saddened by the loss of our long-time supporter and special member of the melanoma community, Luke Thomas. Firstly, we send our deepest condolences to Luke’s husband, family, friends and those lucky enough to have ever met him. You are all in our thoughts at this very difficult time.

Luke’s story began with Melanoma Focus back in 2021, when he decided to walk the 876-mile journey of the Welsh Coastal Path and incredibly fundraising over £60,000 for the charity and raising melanoma awareness enroute. His magnetic personality attracted the support of celebrities such as Shane Richie, Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, Zoe Ball, Stephen Webb and more.

He didn’t stop there though; Luke had a fierce passion and drive to bring attention to melanoma and raise important awareness however he could. In 2022 and 2023, he supported parliamentary events sharing his important story with MPs.

During 2022, he also remarkably won ‘Wales Home of the Year’ after renovating his beautiful Welsh cottage and arranged an ‘open house’ and encouraged visitors to donate to Melanoma Focus. He was always using his social media channels to shout about melanoma and prevention.

In 2024, Luke worked with us to organise our Brighton Pride awareness parade. With a true zest for life, he assembled family and friends, shining a light on melanoma awareness. Luke was also nominated for a BBC London Make a Difference award after being shortlisted as a finalist in the Bravery Category for all his amazing work.

It goes without saying that Luke was an exceptional human being who did so much to make a difference. His tenacious outlook was profoundly inspiring, and we feel so fortunate to have had the honour to get to know him. His outstanding accomplishments will live on, and his legacy will remain in the work that we do. We are eternally grateful to him and everything he has done for Melanoma Focus.
