A Message from our Chief Executive
As 2024 draws to a close, we are pleased to share a message from our Chief Executive, Susanna Daniels, reflecting on this year’s achievements and offering a glimpse into our exciting plans for 2025:
“2024 has been another remarkable year for Melanoma Focus. Together, we have made significant strides in raising awareness, campaigning, fundraising, supporting people living with melanoma, their loved ones and melanoma healthcare professionals. It has been a privilege to connect with members of our community this year and witness firsthand the profound impact of our work.
Our dedicated team have worked extremely hard to ensure that more people living with melanoma have access to accurate, up to date information and support. We have continued to update and expand all of our accredited information and resources. Our Melanoma Helpline service has grown from strength to strength and more people are accessing the support they need. This year’s Melanoma Patient Conference was particularly impactful, delivering hope, empowerment, and vital education to attendees. Our national awareness campaigning and advocacy work reached more people than ever before.
We have continued to serve the melanoma healthcare professional community, providing CME accredited educational conferences, whilst we update the mucosal melanoma guidelines as well as supporting the production of immunotherapy skin side-effect guidelines and information. We have provided critical input to NICE and SMC applications supporting the access of new treatments to melanoma patients across the UK.
Looking ahead, 2025 will mark the launch of our new three-year strategy, speaking to our vision to shape a better future for melanoma patients. With the continued support, passion and dedication of our incredible trustees, supporters, fundraisers, and staff, we will drive change, inspire hope, and make a lasting difference to those affected by melanoma. We will also continue to raise vital awareness of this potentially highly preventable cancer.”
