A Man. A Mini. A Mountain.

“Francis leaves a gaping hole in the lives of everyone who knew him. He is the adored and much missed husband of Sally and father of Finn and Maisie. He was a primary school teacher and teacher of music, inspiring and encouraging thousands of young people in his 20 years as an educator. He was brilliant, talented and hilarious. He brought the fun and joy with him wherever he went.”

In May 2024 aged 51, Francis sadly passed away from melanoma. Leaving a huge hole in the lives of those who knew him. His amazing family and friends resolved to do something both to celebrate his life and to help future families caught in the same difficult circumstances.

On Sunday 25th May, the wonderful @MiniUpAMountain team completed their extraordinary challenge in memory of Francis. They hiked to the top of the Black Mountain-Twyn Llech which is located between Powys and Herefordshire. As if this wasn’t enough of a challenge, they carried the shell of an original mini and constructed it at the summit. Francis was a mini enthusiast, and the team felt this was a special way to honour his memory.

“Francis loved people, and, in his name, we aim to raise as much money as possible to help the team at Melanoma Focus continue their work: to provide support and information for patients, carers and healthcare professionals while commissioning and funding innovative research to prevent and treat melanoma.”

The team has so far raised over £17,000 for Melanoma Focus. Thank you does not do it justice. We are beyond grateful for their dedication and support, the money that they have raised will make a huge difference to our charity.  If you want to learn more about their incredible challenge follow them on insta @miniupamountain.
