Focus on Melanoma Healthcare Professional Meeting 2022
We have recently held our 10 year anniversary healthcare professional meeting organised by Professor Paul Lorigan at the Royal College of Physicians; our first face-to-face healthcare professional meeting in 3 years and the atmosphere was buzzing!
We were thrilled to be joined by the Founder and ex-CEO of Melanoma Focus, Simon Rodwell who shared the history and achievements of charity. Since his retirement in 2020, this is the first public opportunity we have had to honour and thank him for all of the work he has done for the melanoma community.
Throughout the day we heard from our fantastic speakers, who covered the following topics:
- What’s new in melanoma?
- Merkel Cell Cancer; new treatments and guidelines
- Clinical dilemmas: sentinel node biopsy remains an important staging procedure
- Case base discussions: the management of brain metastases
- Sunbeds and skin cancer – the case for a ban?
The Martin Gore CBE Memorial Lecture was delivered by the eminent Professor Claus Garbe and covered ‘How treatments have changed and continued to evolve’
We would like to say a big thank you to this year’s Focus on Melanoma 2022 organiser, Professor Paul Lorigan, and to all of our speakers, chairs, sponsors, trustees, team and the Royal College of Physicians for making this year’s meeting possible. Most importantly, a huge thank you to all delegates.
We look forward to sharing details of the virtual meeting in May 2023 and the next face to face meeting in October 2023. We hope that by organising both virtual and a face to face educational meetings, we will be able to invite more of the melanoma community to our events.
