Melanoma Focus are pleased to fund open access to a new publication in the European Journal of Cancer focusing on the Management of Pregnancy associated melanoma in the clinic
Pregnancy associated melanoma (PAM) is defined as any melanoma diagnosed during pregnancy or up to one-year post-partum. Historically, there have been a lack of formal guideline for dealing with PAM, which requires careful investigation and management in a multidisciplinary approach from an oncological and obstetric view.
A leading research group, including two of our trustees, Professor Catherine Harwood (consultant dermatologist, Barts Health NHS Trust) and Professor Paul Nathan (consultant medical oncologist, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre), reviews the pathophysiology and aetiology of PAM and proposes guidelines for the diagnosis, investigation, monitoring and management of patients diagnosed with PAM.
